We are affiliated to Snowsport England (SSE), the official governing body for cross country ski clubs. Amongst other things, SSE organises training courses for cross country skiers on rollerskis and on snow, as well as courses for Telemark skiers, on a national basis. SSE also provides specialist advice and arranges the very important public liability insurance for the affiliated cross country ski clubs. It makes grants towards club equipment, and YDCCSC has benefited from this.

Our main activity is rollerskiing. Rollerskiing is cross-county skiing on wheels, the best method of learning cross country technique without snow. We offer regular practice sessions, equipment hire and free tuition by club members who are qualified SSE Instructors. Beginners and improvers will benefit enormously from learning to rollerski before holidaying at a snow resort, and for an extremely modest outlay too.

For recreational skiers, rollerski tours are arranged between the various affiliated clubs, and for the competitive skier there are opportunities for racing.

The Yorkshire Post came and saw the club in action at an instruction session on the Spen Valley Greenway and an article appeared in the newspaper on 19 Jan 2010 explaining what rollerskiing is all about. You can read this by clicking here

We also organise a variety of sociable activities throughout the year. These may include walks, cycle rides, canoe trips, weekends in the Dales, and at least one ski holiday abroad.
